Ferrari 458 Italia : Service Guide
The Ferrari 458 Italia is the mid-engine V8 berlinetta successor to the Ferrari F430. Ferrari manufactured the 458 Italia from 2009 until 2015 and was replaced by the Ferrari 488 GTB. This was the last Pinifarina designed car, as Ferrari switched to internal designs once the Ferrari 488 GTB arrived.

Unless you’ve been living under the rock you will without doubt know about this famous liberty walk Ferrari 458 built by Damon Fryer of Daily Driven Exotics. It was his original OG Tire Slayer that helped launch his YouTube Channel.

Despite beating on this car, the Ferrari 458 is a relatively inexpensive Ferrari to own provided you maintain it and perform all the necessary service & maintenance work that Ferrari has set out in the schedule below.

A coupe and convertible “Spyder” versions were available, as well as high-performance “Speciale” variants of both. Many people revere the 458 Italia as the last naturally-aspirated V8 to come from the brand with the prancing horse.

The DDE Ferrari 458 Service & Maintenance Guide will provide a recommended maintenance schedule, so that owners can keep their beautiful Italian exotic in as best condition as possible.
Preventative maintenance is key in extending the longevity of the vehicle, as well as avoid any costly repairs from neglect.

Engine, Oil, Transmission, Clutch
The Ferrari 458 Italia uses Ferrari’s F136-F naturally-aspirated 90 degree V8. It is an evolution of the F136-E and F136-I engine found in the Ferrari F430 and California, respectfully. It features direct injection and a dry-sump oil system. The 458 Italia was offered exclusively with Ferrari’s dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The Ferrari 458 Service Guide recommends these maintenance intervals:
Annual or every 6,000 miles:
-Replace Engine Oil & Filter
-Replace Pollen Filter
-DEIS Scan
-Brake Inspection
-Inspect Transmission Oil and Hydraulic Fluid Levels & Top-Up if Necessary
-Inspect Front & Rear Suspension Systems
-Inspection of Transmission & Differential Assembly
-Inspection of Tire Wear
Every 2 years or 12,500 Miles (Includes 6,000 Mi Service Plus:)
-Replace Brake Fluid
-Electronic Parking Brake inspecti
-Tightening of Engine & Transmission Mounts & Fasteners
-Replace Engine Air Filter
Every 4 Years or 37,500 Miles (Includes 12,500 Mi Service Plus:)
-Replace Auxiliary Belts & Replace Spark Plugs
In order to make sure that all components are working as they should, a visual inspection of the entire vehicle during each and every service. This includes inspecting for any leaks or accelerated wear and tear.
Note that the Ferrari 458 Service guide is recommending these if driven regularly on public roads. If the vehicle is tracked, wear and tear will be accelerated and should be serviced earlier and more frequently than the schedule outlined above.

Brakes, Rotors, Pads, Fluid
Ferrari as a company is very involved in motorsports, which in-turn trickles down to their road-going models. The Ferrari 458 Italia comes standard with race-derived carbon-ceramic brakes.
They are relatively large brakes, with 398 mm in the front and 360 mm rear. Clamped with 6 piston calipers in the front and 4-piston calipers in the rear. The brake rotors themselves should last the lifetime of the vehicle.
However, brake pad wear will vary based on driving conditions and driving style. The harder someone is on their brakes, the more frequently they must be changed. This is why it is important to inspect the brake wear at each service interval.
Brake fluid must be changed every 2 years to ensure that the system isn’t contaminated with moisture, air, or dirt.
Tires, Suspension & Alignment
Tires are also wearable items that need to be checked at every service interval. Unfortunately, many owners tend to ignore their tires. As they are the only part of your vehicle that are in contact with the ground, they affect handling, acceleration, braking, and crucially, safety.
Wear will vary depending on driving conditions, driving style, and whether or not the vehicle is all-wheel drive or not.
The Ferrari 458 Italia comes with these tire sizes:
Front 235/35/R20
Rear 295/35/R20
Alignment can seriously affect both tire wear as well as the handling characteristics of a car. Therefore, it is imperative that the alignment is checked on a regular basis. The Ferrari 458 Service Guide recommends
checking camber, castor, and toe for tolerances within factory specification, or a custom specification if deemed necessary.
The suspension’s job is to not only keep a comfortable ride; it is also to provide optimal handling characteristics.
Properly functioning suspension will keep alignment within specification in a straight line as well as in the corners. Moreover, this keeps the tires from wearing unevenly. At each service interval, it is recommended to check the suspension components for any squeaks, rattles, leakage, or play.
